WOLFRAM CRESCENT

A celebration of the often unloved 1960’s terraced houses, Wolfram Crescent is the transformation of this end of terrace house into some special while retaining the character of the original building. The main engineering challenge was telescopic offsetting of two brick gable walls with one smaller than the other, similar to Russian dolls. The design of the new extension had to mirror the form of the original house but provide a larger internal family space. The offsetting of the extension required the use of cranked steel beams to keep the open-plan living spaces between the areas. Intricate facade detailing helped to realize the architectural design aspirations with masonry piers floating above the rear doors and open-plan spaces inside.
